Number of flood victims drops to 7,200 – Bernama

The number of flood victims at relief centres in Pahang, Perak and Kelantan continues to fall with about 2,000 people allowed to return home tonight.There are 7,282 victims at relief centres in the three states and Johor compared with 9,341 people in the afternoon. The number of victims in Johor remains at 32.In Pahang, the state police flood operations room said there were 3,026 victims in six affected districts compared with 4,908 people in the afternoon.Pekan recorded a total of 1,835 people followed by Kuantan (877), Temerloh (271), Maran (21), Bera (14) and Bentong (8).He added that the Bentong-Raub route was still closed to traffic after a bridge at Kampung Baru Bentong was damaged by floods.Motorists were advised to use the alternative routes at Bentong-Karak Highway-Cinta Manis-Sertik-Mempaga or Lebu-Raub or Sertik-Kuala Krau.In Perak, the total number of flood victims dropped to 2,381.The Perak National Security Council (MKN) spokesman said Perak Tengah recorded the  highest number of flood victims with 1,860 people, Hilir Perak (357), Manjung (127) and Hulu Perak (37).In Kelantan, a state MKN spokesman said two more relief centres were closed, making the total number of centres open at 25 sheltering 1,843 victims.The number of flood victims in Kuala Krai district was 1,016 people, Gua Musang (674), Tanah Merah (93) and Machang (60).In Johor, the number of flood victims in Segamat remained at 32. – Bernama, January 11, 2015.
